Convention observations

I was down at the convention center earlier this morninig for a live “Political Connections” on Bay News 9, and got to see a few interesting things.
First, law enforcement is everywhere. Packs of police and sheriff’s deputies are all over downtown. There are also tons of fences and other obstructions to keep protestors at bay througout the city.
The Secret Service controls the security immediately around the Forum and the Tampa Convention Center. I went through two magnetometers to get into the Forum.
Inside, the Forum is abuzz with national and local TV shows. I ran into Haley Barbour and Mike Huckabee and also saw David Gregory from NBC News, among others.
The amount of media at the Forum is overwhelming. Equally so, is the amount of wiring within the Forum. It’s astounding.
The convention is postponed tomorrow, but Tampa, the media, the GOP and the Forum will still be full of life.
