Last point first; Our inability to have a "Unifying election", as you put it, falls directly at the feet of the McCain campaign. I doubt that it can be argued otherwise, though I know you will. McCain's belief in his "Inevitability" has pushed and prodded him into his spastic and erratic attempts to bring about any coherent plan for his being elected. He sold HIMSELF down the river, in doing so.
Regarding Powell and Palin, One had a laudable reputation, the other, not so much. God forbid she should have aspirations beyond FOX news. She is, and always will be a joke, especially after what will become a truly inspiring administration of Barack Obama. You Repugs should get on board now. If you are all as Patriotic as you would like to think yourselves to be, now is the time to show it. You are welcome to be the "Constructive" opposition, the word constructive being the operative term. We don't need anymore of the Atwater/Rove school of slash and burn political nihilism, Winning for it's own sake.
We've got big problems and everyone needs to be on board.
What do you say? Up for it?
